Bois in my kitchen

Black marble counters, heavy duty gas burners on a shiny black surface.  A double stainless steel sink flanked by an electric coffee maker and a compost bin with green plastic draped over the edge of the lid.  Cluttered but not messy, the needed tools are always just a step away.  Rosie and I work together, sliding past one another to reach, stir, wipe, place things when needed. Our skin is warmed by proximity.  We take many smooch breaks, dance, sing, and cavort as we cook.  Music floats on the steam from the simmering pot.  We make good things together, for ourselves and for you.  You sit in your chair two rooms away, peering over your cross stitch work, glasses reflecting the yellow light of the lamp and lips softened with a slight smile.
